The Ruby Lounge
Located bang in the heart of Manchester's Northern Quarter, The Ruby Lounge, has kicked the new year off with a brand spanking new refit. The
venue has done away with the pesky pillars that obstructed the dance floor, taken out the ceiling to raise the stage, upgraded the PA, fitted brand new air conditioning, new lights and given the whole space a sparkling makeover.
As the name suggests the club's style echoes the retro glamour of 50's cocktail lounges. It has always been flash without being showy, lived in without being beat up and rock 'n' roll without being clichéd.
The venue this year welcome's a whole gamut of genres, from brand new bands bursting onto the scene, to the occasional household name, to club nights catering for all tastes from hip hop, to burlesque, to cutting-edge indie, alongside rock, trance, industrial, Americana and a multitude of splintered sub-genres.
Ticket prices range from £5-£20 depending on the event.
The Mint Lounge
This Oldham Street institution holds a host of nights in a sophisticated setting. Formerly an underground Burlesque Bar, The Mint Lounge is a chic discotheque with the difference.
Resident club nights include the award winning electro night Clique every Friday, the 70s funk fest Funkademia every Saturday and the hip hop nights Hit & Run every Monday and Broke 'n' English's Ballin On A Budget on the last Thursday of the month.

The Deaf Institute
If quirky is your bag, you'll love the Dolly Parton wallpaper, velvet curtains, domed ceiling and huge mirror ball that decorate one of the city's coolest clubs. Located just off Oxford Road, The Deaf Institute cafe bar and music hall, holds a wide mix of nights including Gold Teeth, Now Wave, El Diablo's Social Club, Guilty Pleasures, Up the Racket, Revolver, The Beat Boutique and Chips with Everything.
Tickets cost £4 and upwards.
Grab you're dancing shoes and start the dance. If it's beats to move your feet to you're after, get ready to pull some shapes in Manchester this year.
